Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage Review

This is my first real post, so I thought I'd start it off right with a favorite of mine.

That's right! It's good old Spyro for the one and only PlayStation. As old as this game is (12 years old) it's still a personal favorite of mine.

I played this a few days ago. Some really epic memories flooded me when I turned the thing on and the console boot up started. I remember flinging my controller when I finally beat Ripto, and basiclly danced all the way through the last cut-scene.

For a console that is quite old, it runs really smooth (even if I had to blow the dust off everything). I'm replaying it and half way through. I'm really rusty, after years of not playing.

In the Dragon Realm, Spyro has returned all the dragons and vanquished Gnasty Gnorc. Spyro decides it's time for a little vacation to the vacation hot spot, Dragon Shores.

However, the world of Avalar has had some problems. Ripto has invaded and is wrecking havoc all over the world. In a last ditch mission to get a dragon to come to Avalar and destroy Ripto once and for all, Hunter, Elora, and Professor create a portal to the Dragon Realm.

On the other side, Spyro has crossed the portal, but what he finds isn't Dragon Shores. The trio explain to Spyro that he must defeat Ripto and restore peace back to Avalar. Doesn't sound like vacation, but Spyro is always up to the challenge.
Down with Ripto

Of all the Spyro games I've played (1 and 2 ). I have to say that the second one is my favorite. Spyro the Dragon was really laggy in spots and stuff (well for me), and not as compelling a story as compared to Spyro 2. Another thing I liked was that nothing ever got old. From the puzzles to enemy's even the worlds, everything was unique and original.

Pros:
Great story that's really compelling and not in the least cliche. Game play is great. Controls aren't complicated at all, and everything you do goes in effect with the story.

Cons:
Finding cons in this game is pretty tough. I'm really pleased with everything this game had to offer. The only things I can find myself saying that would make the game better is maybe if they had done the health a little more traditionally. Like hearts instead of Sparx the dragonfly (although he is a large icon for the game franchise).

All in all I'd give this one a 9.85out of ten.
